Eco-Spider SWINCAR Tours Offer Accessible Adventure That’s Actually Thrilling!
There is no shortage of research supporting the benefits of spending time in nature. Outdoor adventure compounds these benefits. But what accessible adventure options are there for wheelchair bound individuals? There are more and more opportunities as the years pass. Some parks and beaches offer off-road wheelchairs that allow participants to navigate tougher terrain. While these are fabulous options that give access to areas otherwise unreachable to people of reduced mobility, they are not the only option anymore, nor are they the most exciting. What is more exciting you ask? An Eco-Spider SWINCAR Tour!
Historic Banning Mills is home to the largest fleet of Eco-Spider SWINCARs in the world! These unique off-road vehicles are controlled with only the use of the driver’s hands, with options that allow for easy wheelchair transfer! They provide a thrilling experience for your entire group and provide a way for everyone to enjoy the adventure together.
Not only do you get to explore the trails around our 300 acres of historic conservation land, but you also get to cross a suspension bridge 170 feet over Snake Creek!
Our guides give complete instructions on the use of the SWINCAR and the group practices driving before hitting the trails. We take the time to stop for some great views of Snake Creek Gorge and historic 1800s mill ruins, and we even take free pictures of you and your group at some memorable locations.
Every participant has the exact same experience which adds to the inclusivity of this adventure. Our mission at Banning Mills is “To preserve the unique and pristine eco systems of the Snake Creek Gorge and Chattahoochee watershed areas as well as the extensive history of the Banning Mills township and gorge areas. To promote leadership and character development with experiential adventure-based programs as well as increase community awareness of this special area by educational programs and publications” and providing access to adventure without limitations is supremely important to us.

Single Rider Vehicle Details:
- Cost: $139
- Minimum age to drive a single rider vehicle: 16 years.
- Max height: 6’5″
- Max weight for a single rider vehicle: 285 lbs.
- Drivers must meet all requirements listed below.
Tandem Rider Vehicle (two seats)
- Cost: $199
- Minimum age to drive a tandem rider vehicle: 18 years.
- Minimum age to ride along in a tandem rider vehicle: 12 years.
- Max height: 6’5″
- Total max weight for a tandem rider vehicle: 450 lbs.
- Drivers must meet all requirements listed below.
- Note: If a participant exceeds the 285 lb. weight limit for a single rider vehicle, they may book a tandem vehicle for individual use (max weight: 450 lbs.).
Participant Requirements:
- Drivers must have use of their upper extremities, no visual impairments that can’t be corrected with visual aids, and must be able to hear and understand verbal commands.
- All participants are required to wear helmets.
- Drivers must present a valid drivers license before starting their tour.
- Drivers must be able to demonstrate driving ability during the training session before going out on the course.
- All participants require a signed waiver, with a parent/guardian signature for guests younger than age 18.
