  • We STRONGLY suggest you have them secured by a strap or otherwise. We are not responsible for lost or broken items. Our guides take FREE pictures of your tour so you can leave the camera behind!

Bring any necessary medication.

  • Items such as inhalers, epi-pens, or nitroglycerine pills need to be with you and our guides need to be made aware of conditions requiring these types of medications.
What should I wear?

Zip Line Canopy Tours, Aerial Adventures, Climbing Wall, Eco-Spider ATV, and Horseback Tours:

Closed-toed shoes are a requirement!

  • This means sneakers or boots with a full heal/back. No crocs, sandals, or 5-toed shoes allowed. People with improper footwear will not be allowed to go on tour and no refunds will be given.

Dress appropriately for the weather.

  • Comfortable clothes are recommended. We operate rain or shine so wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little wet or sweaty. You will be wearing a harness that goes around your waist and thighs so we recommend wearing clothes that will cover those areas. Short shorts and tube tops are not recommended. Please wear shorts under dresses or skirts. Wear layers in cold weather.

Secure long hair.

  • You don’t want hair to get tangled in the equipment. Helmets are required, so a low ponytail, bun, or braid is the most comfortable. It is permitted to wear thin bandanas, beanies, or other head coverings under your helmet.

Glasses and sunglasses can be worn.

  • If you plan on taking them off during the tour, we recommend a strap. They may break if you put them in your pocket.

Do not wear loose articles of clothing, dangling jewelry, or large hoop earrings.

Kayak Tours:

Shoes with straps are a requirement.

  • This means that sandals must be secured with straps around your heel. Tennis shoes and boots are allowed but know that they will likely get wet. No flip-flops allowed. People with improper footwear will not be allowed to go on tour and no refunds will be given.

Dress appropriately for the weather.

  • Do not wear cotton. This is especially important if the weather or water temperature is cool. Wool keeps you warm when wet and fleece dries quickly. Synthetic or wool materials are highly encouraged. In the cooler months please dress warmly, you will get wet.

Wear sunscreen and bring some too! We encourage you to wear a hat.

Insect repellant is helpful.

Glasses and sunglasses can be worn.

  • If you plan on taking them off during the tour, we recommend a strap.
Do you offer group discounts?

We welcome groups and offer a 10% discount for groups of 10 or more. Bring your company, camp, church, or any group of friends and family!

There can only be one point of contact and payment for your group. You can collect the money from your group however you want, but the full reservation amount must be paid on one card. The person who made the reservation must be present to check-in and have the card used to make the reservation and an ID with the name used to make the reservation.

Reservations are required for groups. Please call or email us at info@historicbanningmills.com to set up your reservation and receive your group discount.

When making your reservation, we require 25% of the payment (non-refundable) at the time of booking and the remaining %75 must be paid at least 10 days prior to your tour time.

Taking your group on a zip line tour or aerial adventure course can build camaraderie and provide lifelong shared memories. To take that experience up a notch, check out our Team Building Options!

What if it rains?

We operate rain or shine except in severe weather. The safety of our guests is paramount, and tours will not run in local severe weather such as thunderstorms (close lightning) or high winds. However, tours will run in the rain and after a storm has passed. The weather may delay the start of a tour, but unless the weather is severe and expected to be so for an extended period, the tour will not be canceled. Tour times may be delayed if a storm system pops up and is expected to pass through quickly, but the tours most likely will run.

Bad weather seldom results in canceled tours. Unless you are called and informed of a cancellation on our part, assume your tour is a go. No refund will be given for a tour missed because of inclement weather unless we cancel the tour.

If we cancel your tour, a full refund will be given, or you may transfer to a different date at no charge.

Make sure you dress for the weather.

What if I must cancel my tour?

We have a 7-day cancellation policy.

What are ViewPoint Helmet Cameras and how do I rent one?

Viewpoint Cameras are lightweight, wide-angle video cameras that record your experience in full HD. They are positioned directly on top of your helmet, providing a unique Point-of-View (POV) perspective of what your experience was actually like!

The process is easy:

  1. Rent a camera at the front counter for $15 (online booking coming soon).
  2. Record your adventure! The camera can capture up to 3 hours of footage. Tip: Think about who you want the perspective of and who you want to see on the video itself when choosing whose helmet to mount it on.
  3. Get your video receipt.
  4. Download and share your video!

We partner with Viewpoint to provide this service. After you are done with your tour, our staff will dock the helmet cam and print out a receipt with a QR code that links directly to your video. There is also an option to go to their website vt3.io and enter the code found at the bottom of your receipt. You can download the video by clicking the three dots in the bottom right of the video as it's playing. The upload is generally quick and should be viewable within a few hours. We do not have access to the footage, so if you lose your receipt or have issues accessing your video, please email support@viewpointvideos.com and they will help you with any issues.

I didn’t receive my pictures or video. Can you help?

Free Pictures we take:

We partner with Fotaflo to upload and send you the pictures we take of your adventure. After your tour, we upload the pictures and Fotaflo will send them to the email provided on your waivers. Each person in your group will receive the email. If you do not receive them in 2 days, you may call the front desk and we will ensure they have been sent. Please check your spam folder as well. How safe are your zip line tours?

We have years of experience, and our guides are all CPR, Wilderness First Aid, and High Ropes Rescue trained. We meet or exceed all ACCT and PRCA guidelines. Our course is constantly checked and rechecked as well as inspected by an outside ACCT certified inspector. You will not find a safer or more experienced zip line canopy tour course in the United States (besides our other locations). Guaranteed!

Our course uses the Vertical Trek Innovations Continuous Belay System which allows for seamless transitioning between zip lines, bridges, high rope elements, platforms, and much more all while maintaining a life-rated connection. This continuous belay system holds the highest safety ratings in the industry and is trusted by over 500 zipline courses worldwide. Unlike many other belay systems, Vertical Trek Innovations does not allow accidental disconnects while on the course.

Learn more about our safety standards.

Are there any health conditions that would exclude me from participating?

Ziplining is not for those with recent surgeries, joint or bone injuries, heart conditions, pregnant women (beyond the first trimester), moderate to severe muscular-skeletal problems, or severe arthritis. This list is not complete and any guest with medical problems should notify the staff and consult their own MD for participation recommendations. If you require fast-acting medication (like epinephrine), bring the medication with you on the tour and make your guide aware of your condition before departure.

Do I need to be in good shape?

You should be prepared for some light to moderate physical activity such as climbing stairs, crossing bridges, and walking short distances over uneven terrain. A certain level of physical mobility is required for this course. Participants will be required to extend their arms and actively use their hands when steering, braking, and in proper zipline position. Participants are required to have full range of motion, average balance capabilities, use of both of their upper and lower extremities, be able to hear, see, and understand verbal commands and hand signals, and must be capable of understanding, retaining, and obeying verbal instructions.

The Crazy Squirrel Aerial Adventure Course Tier 2 is more physically challenging with up to 35 obstacles. We recommend you have good balance and can use your upper body strength to steady yourself.

What if I “chicken out?”

This is an aerial adventure designed to help confront and overcome fears while providing thrills and fun. Please consider what this activity is and how you/your child might react to heights and challenges before purchasing a ticket.

Should you discover that a course is too much for you, you may opt out of completing it. However, please keep in mind that by booking your course you took the slot of another paying guest. The guides scheduled for your course still must be paid. As such, you will still be charged for level 1 plus a credit card processing fee. Thanks for your understanding of our “no go” policy.

How long will my tour take?

Tour durations are listed with each level, the exact number of zip lines and sky bridges may vary depending on the route taken. Tour times are estimates and can vary depending on group size and other factors.

Is water provided?

Yes. We have water points throughout the tour. Be prepared to go over an hour without water.

Is there a place to view friends and family that are on the course?

Some of the zip lines are visible around the lodge area but most are amongst the trees and would not be visible. You can ask your tour guide where a good spot might be to see your group. You can watch your group go through the Crazy Squirrel Aerial Adventure Course.

Do I have to accompany my child on the tour?

For zip line tours: Children can go unaccompanied as long as they meet the age and weight requirements listed with each level.

For the Crazy Squirrel Aerial Adventure Tier 1: Children ages 4-10 must be accompanied by an adult on the course. Children ages 11 and up may go unaccompanied but must be able to reach a height of 44 inches.

For the Crazy Squirrel Aerial Adventure Tier 2: Children ages 9-11 must be accompanied by an adult on the course. Children ages 11 and up may go unaccompanied but must be able to reach a height of 70 inches.

Each accompanying adult must be at least 18 years old and may assist up to two children. Accompanying adults are subject to the same weight requirements (max weight: 250 lbs. for females, 285 lbs. for males).

All participants must have a signed waiver. Guardians must fill one out for all minors under 18.

Kayak Tours FAQs

What should I wear while kayaking?

What should I bring?

Bring water and snacks in a waterproof container.

You may bring a phone, camera, or GoPro.

  • We STRONGLY suggest you have them secured by a strap and protect them in a watertight case or bag. We are not responsible for lost or broken items.

Sunblock and bug spray are a good idea!

How safe are kayak tours?

We have years of experience, and our guides are all CPR and Wilderness First Aid trained. Our kayaks are safer than a boat or canoe, are hard to turn over, and no roll training is required. We provide life jackets. All participants should be able to swim.

Do I need any experience?

No. Our guides will provide instructions before and during your tour. You will encounter class I rapids which are not difficult to navigate. You may come as a beginner, but you will leave feeling like a pro!

Are there any health conditions that would exclude me from participating?

Kayaking required the use of your arms to paddle. This tour is not for people with recent surgeries, joint or bone injuries, heart conditions, pregnant women (beyond the first trimester), moderate to severe muscular-skeletal problems or severe arthritis. This list is not complete and any guest with medical problems should notify the staff and consult their own MD for participation recommendations. If you require fast-acting medication (like epinephrine), bring the medication with you on the tour and make your guide aware of your condition prior to departure.

Do I need to be in good shape?

This tour is fairly low impact but does require participants to paddle. Participants must have use of their upper and lower extremities, no visual impairments that can’t be corrected with visual aids, and must be able to hear and understand verbal commands.

Is water provided on kayak tours?

Not while on tour. We have water at the main lodge but we suggest you bring water on tour with you.

Is there a place to view friends and family that are on the river?

No. We transport participants to and from the river.

Climbing Wall FAQs

What should I wear while climbing?

Closed-toed shoes are a requirement.

  • This means sneakers or boots with a full heel/back. No crocs, sandals, or 5-toed shoes allowed. People with improper footwear will not be allowed to go on tour and no refunds will be given.

Dress appropriately for the weather.

  • Comfortable clothes are recommended. We climb rain or shine so wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little wet or sweaty.
